Metal dies are one of the most versatile tools for card making. With a single pass through your die-cutting machine, you can create perfectly cut shapes, intricate borders, and layered embellishments that turn a plain card blank into something worth keeping.
Our dies for card making are designed exclusively for Hip Kit Club. You won't find these designs at any craft store or on Amazon. Each die coordinates with our monthly kit collections, and once a design sells out, it's gone for good.
If you're cutting shapes by hand, metal dies will change everything. A die-cutting machine and a good set of metal cutting dies let you produce clean, identical shapes every single time. That means perfectly symmetrical hearts, crisp scalloped borders, and intricate frames that would take forever to cut with scissors.
Our card-friendly dies include:
For card making, we recommend cutting from medium-weight cardstock (65-80 lb). Lighter cardstock cuts cleanly but won't hold dimension. Heavier cardstock works for single layers but can be tough on intricate dies. Always use a quality cutting pad and check your machine's pressure settings when switching materials.
Price-wise, our card making dies range from $7.95 to $38.95, and most of our members find that border dies and nested shape dies get the most use in their card-making rotation.

Metal dies require a manual or electric die-cutting machine like Sizzix Big Shot, Spellbinders Platinum, or similar. They don't work with electronic cutting machines like Cricut or Silhouette, which use digital SVG files instead. Check out our SVG cut files for those machines.
Our steel dies last for thousands of cuts when used properly. Always use a quality cutting pad, store dies flat or in magnetic sheets, and avoid cutting through chipboard or thick materials that can dull the blades.
Yes! Every month's Hip Kit Club collection includes new metal dies that coordinate with the papers and embellishments in the kit. Many of our members use these dies for both card making and scrapbooking.
